We left Dorval in -15C, in a freezing plane. Our route took us north-west at first, then south-west down the side of Lake Superior before crossing the deserts and mountains. The sky was clear most of the way and we were fascinated by the snow and ice outlining the geography. Almost all of Lake Superior was still frozen.
